Jimi Hendrix Flying Eyeball Fillmore 1968 Concert Poster

Jimi Hendrix and the Flying Eyeball are images indelibly linked in the psychedelic poster art of the late Rick Griffin. Griffin discovered The Eyeball, in a much more benign form, in the 1950s auto detailing art of California pinstriper Von Dutch and reworked it over time to become the winged, bloodshot figure parting a ring of fire with serpent-like tentacles. The highlighted lettering, vivid color, and complicated imagery reflect Griffin’s attention to precise details and the influence of Indian lore on his work. The poster, called “BG105, ” features the famous “flying eyeball” design by Rick Griffin; Bill Graham’s archives (the “BG” in the title), Griffin appropriated the image from the famed California auto detailer Von Dutch and added his own touches to reflect the psychedelic times. This is a guaranteed original (printed BEFORE the concert) poster advertising. BLUES IMAGE, FLYING BURRITO BROTHERS (with GRAM PARSONS). Appearing February 28, 1969 at Crawford Hall and U. Flying Burrito Brothers posters from the Gram Parsons era are VERY VERY rare. This beautiful poster measures 11 x 17 inches and is in VG+ condition with a tiny bit of surface paper loss in the upper two corners and a 1 1/4 inch horizontal strip at the bottom of the poster that is faded from the light pink color of the rest of the poster.
