Original 1966 Sparta Graphics Christmas Dance Concert Poster. This is among the first posters designed and illustrated by Jim Michaelson. Dave Schiller was the founder and owner of Sparta Graphics and commissioned Michaelson to design this poster which announces a dance concert featuring performances by Syndicate of Sound, Chocolate Watchband, and Jaguars People at Santa Clara County Fairgrounds. The poster is 17 x 22 inches printed on heavy stock. There are no pieces of the poster missing, but it does have creases and folds where the white of the paper shows through as thin lines. It could be retored relatively easily to appear almost like new. I would rank it as fair condition, but not bad for a piece of paper that is 57 years old. I was fortunate to personally know Dave Schiller and Jim Michaelson. Sadly they both passed away, but these posters are a great testament and legacy of a fantastic era for music across the great 1960s. This is not a reproduction. It is the original poster printed over 50 years ago. It is among a precious few that exist in the world. Once they are gone, they will never be available again unless an owner of original posters my age (68 years old) decides to part with them.
