A beautiful and extremely rare concert poster advertising The Doors, with The Peanut Butter Conspiracy, at The Kaleidoscope in Hollywood on April 21-23, 1967. This circular concert poster, #2 in the Kaleidoscope series, is by far the rarest Kaleidoscope poster, and one of the most sought after Doors concert posters. The extremely psychedelic artwork features close up portraits of the four Doors members, printed in Day-Glo ink. It has been cited as the first Doors poster to feature an image of the band. This example is by far the nicest we’ve seen, and grades Near Mint, after minor expert restoration to fix edge pinholes and a single crease. A stunning example of a highly sought after Doors poster. 18 5/8 in diameter. This was from the personal collection of Paul Williams who was a lifelong Memphian & Memphis music historian spanning all genres, in particular the blues band NRBQ. Paul owned AUDIOMANIA Records in Midtown Memphis, which was a local record hot-spot for 33 years. He also had his own radio show on WEVL here in Memphis and that ran for 43 years. As a younger man, he was an usher at the Warfield Theater in San Francisco during the late 70’s, when every rock-n-roll icon of the time was performing there nightly, he was even lucky enough to attend Bob Dylan’s two-week run of shows in 1979! After coming back to Memphis he worked at record Mecca, Pop Tunes, before opening Audiomania. Everything listed here from Paul, was either in his shop or in his personal collection at home. The graphic is directly stamped on this poster paper (screen print)… You can feel the actual paint! This is a 13×20 cardstock/poster paper material. This is not a mint poster, please view the pictures that I have provided.
