Scarce and highly collectible original first printin g double-sided concert handbill advertising American jazz guitarist extraordinaire Wes Montgomery at the Theatre 140 in Brussels [Belgium] on Sunday, 4th April, 1965, accompanied by the Pim Jacobs Trio (Pim Jacobs, piano; Ruud Jacobs, bass; Han Bennink, drums). Widely considered one of the major jazz guitarists, emerging after such seminal figures as Django Reinhardt and Charlie Christian, Montgomery was a major influence on countless other guitarist, including Jimi Hendrix, Pat Metheny, Lee Ritenour, Larry Coryell, Steve Howe and George Benson. Wes Montgomery died at his home in Indianapolis on the morning of 15th June, 1968 from a heart attack. Montgomery’s home town of Indianapolis later named a park in his honor. The handbill measures 13.9 x 12.2 cm approx. 5.5 by 4.8 inches and is beautifully printed on medium-thin, smooth-finish uncoated paper stock. In excellent unfolded condition, bright and unmarked.
