A very cool decoupaged poster on walnut board for The Bands Last Waltz concert. I get it that the purists poster collectors would frown upon what’s been done to this poster but it’s still a great decorative piece. I believe the poster is an original, the size is a little off because it’s been trimmed to fit the board better but see the close up photos to make an informed decision. The faux live edge board the poster is mounted on appears to be solid walnut and the whole thing is in excellent condition. It also has the hooks and wire on the back for hanging. Overall size of the wood plaque is approximately 22″ x 31-1/2″. BEAUTIFUL CONCERT POSTER FOR THE BAND’S LAST WALTZ (THEIR LAST CONCERT FROM THANKSGIVING 1976) AT WINTERLAND IN SAN FRANCISCO AS PRESENTED BY BILL GRAHAM. THIS POSTER WAS PRINTED AFTER THE CONCERT IN EARLY 1977 (COMMEMORATIVE POSTER THAT LISTS THE ACTS – ALSO A FIRST PRINTING BY ARTIST CROCI). THIS CONCERT FEATURED THE BAND, LAST WALTZ ORCHESTRA AND AN ALL STAR JAM SESSION BESIDES INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCES BY: MUDDY WATERS, ERIC CLAPTON, JONI MITCHELL, NEIL YOUNG, NEIL DIAMOND, PAUL BUTTERFIELD, DR. JOHN, RINGO, RONNIE HAWKINS, VAN MORRISON, STEPHEN STILLS, RON WOOD, ETC. AND THEN THANKSGIVING DINNER FOR ALL 5000 ATTENDEES. POSTER MEASURES 18-1/4″ X 27-3/4″ INCHES IN VERY GOOD CONDITION BUT PERMANENTLY AFFIXED TO THE BOARD.

In contrast to Dylan’s massive 1974 tour with The Band, the first Rolling Thunder leg was mostly smaller, more intimate venues, most of which were promoted primarily via word of mouth and last-minute announcements. The tour generated tremendous interest, as Dylan was premiering new material and appearing on the same bill with Joan Baez for the first time in 10 years. On the Road with Bob Dylan. (1978), wrote Onstage it was like a carnival. Bobby Neuwirth and the back-up band [dubbed’Guam’] warmed up the audience. Next, Dylan ambled on to do about five songs. After intermission, the curtain rose to an incredible sight, Bob and Joan, together again after all these years. Dylan and Baez usually began the second segment in the dark, duetting on’Blowin’ in the Wind. Guest artists would perform at various points, with Baez usually performing six or so songs solo, followed by Dylan, first acoustic, then joined by the band. The all-hands-on-deck finale was usually Woody Guthrie’s’This Land is Your Land. The 30-show first leg, began November 30, 1975 at the War Memorial Auditorium in Plymouth, Mass, and ended December 30 at Madison Square Garden.
