Original Vintage Poster Concert Europeen Art Nouveau Theater 1895 French Flowers

This is an ORIGINAL FIRST PRINTING of this poster by H. Printed ca 1895, it was created to promote the Concert Europeen. While little is known regarding the plot of the Biot-Graphe Revue by Tomy and Telloc, theatre critics at the time raved about the production, one going so far as to dub it the greatest show of the year. It measures approximately 15 x 23 3/8 inches, and is in A- condition (slight tears at edges; unobtrusive folds). It has been laid on linen for preservation. Note: This is NOT a reproduction. In 1893 Carpentier, dreaming as many others did about the success of Chat Noir, hires Jules Jouy away and opens the Decadent’s concert hall. Jules-Alexandre Grun (25 May 1868 15 February 1934) was a French post-impressionist painter, poster artist, and illustrator. [1] Grun’s best known painting is called The Dinner Party, produced in 1911. It was, however, in the fields of poster art and illustration art, for which he was famous. He was employed at a large printing company in Paris and his artistic director was Jules Cheret. Cheret was also his main competitor in poster art.
