ALLMAN BROTHERS Orig. SIGNED R. Tuten drawing for 1991 Concert Poster, R. E. Lee
ORIGINAL POSTER PRODUCTION ART. THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND. At Santa Barbara Bowl, Santa Barbara, CA. Original artwork for an Allman Brothers Band concert poster. Original, one-of-a-kind SIGNED item, by Randy Tuten. PLUS there is another poster for a Dave Mason concert on the back! In January 1969, after a year of being rejected as a poster artist by Chet Helms at the Avalon, 23-year-old Randy Tuten took his portfolio to the Fillmore where Bill Graham immediately hired him. Tuten was partial to traditional advertising styles, Graham was bound to receive his work as something considerably more akin to his own taste. Randy Tuten is the only poster artist to span 5 decades designing for The Fillmore. He remains a prolific poster designer today, and still a regular producer for Bill Graham Presents and other promoters. Tuten’s work has long been recognized for its seminal influence in the art of modern rock and roll, and has been featured in major museum exhibits as well as in several important book-length retrospective studies of rock art. Though his work shows the influences of the 60’s era, it has also evolved in recent years into an orderly and highly varied style of ornamental commercial art, often reminiscent of the advertising used in the deco era. The general consensus in the rock art community is that he has continued to grow as an artist and may be doing his best, most creative and exciting work at the present time. His posters are now a part of rock history, and for both curator and collector, will always be among the most desirable and telling artifacts of West Coast rock aesthetics. About the Allman Brothers Band. The Allman Brothers Band formed in 1969 in Macon, Georgia, United States and blended different strains of southern rock. And more into a flexible, jam-oriented rock and roll. Reflecting the emergence of the New South and setting the style for Lynyrd Skynyrd. The Marshall Tucker Band. And many other bands, the Allman Brothers Band also oddly or eerily, some would say had an unusual string of untimely deaths, a pattern similar to other Southern rockers. Through personal tragedy and turmoil, the group endured for decades. Reaching the peak of their commercial clout in the early 70s. They were highly respected and well received by legions of fans. Lead guitarist and band leader Duane Allman. Has been recognized as one of the greatest blues. Guitarists in history, according to numerous polls. Were living in Daytona Beach, Florida, in 1960, and played in various bands until 1964, when they formed the Escorts, which became the Allman Joys. After their version of Willie Dixon. S Spoonful failed as a single, the two brothers and three other band members went to L. Where they signed with Liberty Records as the Hourglass. They recorded two albums of outside material (Hourglass, 1967, and Power of Love, 1968) before heading to Muscle Shoals, Alabama, to record at Fame Studios. This is a one-of-a-kind production drawing by renowned rock poster artist Randy Tuten for a 1991 Allman Brothers Band concert at the Santa Barbara Bowl. An image of Robert E. Lee is surrounded by an art nouveau motif of lines and leaves. It is printed on translucent drafting paper, possibly vellum, which is taped onto a sheet of white paper, and printed. On the other side of the white paper is actually another poster! It is another R. Tuten poster for a Dave Mason concert with New Riders and Cate Bros. At the Frost Amphitheatre at Stanford on July 18th. Unfortunately the piece appears to have been exposed to moisture at some point and so the vellum is somewhat rippled. It is most pronounced in the lower left area. The drawing was done with pencil so luckily there is no running ink and very little if any staining, but the wrinkles/ripples are fairly pronounced, so the price has been reduced accordingly. It is SIGNED by Randy Tuten. Please check out the photos, all 11 are of the actual item. It’s a very cool, very rare, signed item and provides a bit of insight into the poster production process! The Dave Mason poster on the back is an added bonus! Date: October 12, 1991. Performers: The Allman Brothers Band & Little Feat. Dimensions: Approximately 11″x17″. Check out my other items. Be sure to add me to your favorites list. The item “ALLMAN BROTHERS Orig. SIGNED R. Tuten drawing for 1991 Concert Poster, R. E. Lee” is in sale since Tuesday, June 2, 2015. NO FAKES, NO REPRINTS. Perfect for a high end home theater. Highly sought after by movie poster collectors and aficionados. From the CineMasterpieces archive. This is a genuine. 24 3/16″ x 37 1/16″. The Star Wars Poster Book published in 2005 by Lucasfilm Ltd. Rates posters for scarcity and desirability. From the Star Wars Poster Book : The notorious Star Wars Concert Poster has been laden with misconceptions and mystery ever since it was produced in 1978. However, that concert where Zubin Mehta conducted the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, took place on November 20, 1977, almost a full year before the poster was printed in October 1978. During the run of the tour, a handful of various posters were commissioned to advertise each specific venue. However, when the management of the series changed hands in the spring of 1978, it was deemed appropriate to unify the series under a single key illustration, which was the impetus for this classic artwork art directed by Suzy Rice and illustrated by John Alvin. But it isn’t clear that these posters were ever available to the public. Therefore, they are rare and highly desirable. These can be very difficult to find in any condition! A long time can go by without one of these coming up for sale. You will have trouble finding a nicer one. Not issued to movie theaters. No tears, no tape, no pin holes. If a vintage poster is in terrific unrestored condition like this one (EX C8 or better), many experienced collectors will place a premium on it (when compared to a linen backed/restored one). Most experienced collectors prefer unrestored items to restored ones because they believe they will appreciate more in value. This poster is considered to be within that class and is definitely INVESTMENT QUALITY. This is NOT a reprint or reproduction poster! We are absolutely certain it is authentic. We use super strong hi-quality packaging materials including thick cardboard, masonite, and costly pvc plastic pipe. And guaranteed to arrive safely. (Please see below for details). Please be advised that over 95% of all Original Movie Posters. Printed before the mid 1980’s were issued FOLDED. This is NOT considered a defect. Vintage rolled posters do exist, however they are extremely rare. We can have any folded poster. Which will make the fold lines virtually disappear. Also please note that most movie posters were actually used at the theater, and some will contain slight imperfections such as: writing on the back, pin holes, fold wear, small tears, etc. These are all very common and to be expected, but if they bother you, all these minor flaws can be remedied in the linen backing process. Linen Backing preserves and can actually increase the value of a poster. For the most part, any flaws will be fixed and the poster will appear to be in Near Mint condition. For more information about our. We do not always measure all of our posters exactly. Unless otherwise specified, poster measurements quoted above are approximate to the nearest inch. For example, if we say a one sheet poster is 27″ x 41″ its precise measurements may be closer to 26 3/4″ x 40 7/8″ (or something similar). This slight variance is quite common for all original movie posters. BEWARE OF “FAKE” MOVIE POSTERS! There are fakes, bootlegs, reprints, and reproductions of almost every popular movie poster. WE DO NOT SELL THESE AS ORIGINALS LIKE OTHERS DO! There are many unscrupulous dealers who successfully pass off these posters as originals. They have been doing it for years! These fakes are almost indistinguishable from originals, only experts can tell. They only discover years later when they sell them that they are worthless. Most are from popular movies from the 70’s and 80s, but there are also really old ones and relatively new ones as well. They usually appear in insert size 14″ x 36″ and one sheet size 27″ x 41″. Again, all we can say is BEWARE! We grade our posters according to the Iguide Universal 10-Point Movie Poster Grading Scale. C10 Mint – Investment quality. No perceptible flaws of any kind. C9 Near Mint – Investment quality. Minor flaw on an otherwise unused poster. C8 Excellent – Investment quality. A few minor defects. C7 Very Good to Excellent – Fine condition. Still a very nicely preserved item. C6 Very Good – The typical used poster in average condition. C5 Good to Very Good – A heavily-worn item. C4 Good – Below average but still suitable for display. C3 Fair – Heavily worn, but yet still complete. C2 Poor to Fair – An extremely worn, possibly even incomplete item. C1 Poor – The lowest grade, representing items in the lowest possible condition. Some of our posters are “between grades”. For example, a C8-C9 poster will contain all the qualities/characteristics of a Near Mint C9 except for one or two very minor flaws that we believe prevent it from being a true C9. Sometimes it isn’t possible to do this. Sometimes we can’t roll a folded poster. Please note that if we hold your items for longer than 30 days they will NOT BE RETURNABLE. WE TAKE EXTRA SPECIAL CARE WHEN WE PACKAGE YOUR ITEMS. Folded posters are placed in a plastic bag or envelope and in between STRONG pieces of cardboard and taped together before being placed in the package. Rolled posters are put into a plastic sleeve and then placed in a HEAVY-DUTY TOUGH 3 or 4 diameter thick walled PVC tube. We roll the poster into a smaller diameter than the tube. This is VERY IMPORTANT because it gives the edges strength and helps to prevent them from getting wrinkled. We add soft cushioning material also very important! On the ends to prevent them from getting damaged. We stamp FRAGILE: DO NOT BEND on the outside of the package. EUROPEAN CUSTOMERS PLEASE READ. To protect ourselves, we insure expensive items for the FULL AMOUNT. These combined charges can add up to 25% or more to your final cost. For other European countries the charges will differ. Please check with your postal system on their procedure for packages from overseas so you are not unpleasantly surprised. You must notify us before sending it back. This is extremely rare, but it does occasionally happen. We know how to create a listing that will provide you with the highest dollar possible. We can yield for you MUCH MORE than you would get if you auctioned them yourself up to TEN TIMES or more! Let us sell your posters for you! For more information about CineMasterpieces please see. We guarantee that all posters we sell are graded and described accurately. Unless otherwise specified in the description, ALL POSTERS ARE ORIGINAL MOVIE POSTERS original theatrical movie posters that were displayed or meant for display (unused) in theaters at the time the movies were released.
