Brian Ralph Concert Poster for a Wednesday, September 3, 1997 show at Coney Island High in New York City featuring Dumbwaiters, Elf Power, Harvey Danger, Home, Meringue and Illyah Kuryahkin. Origins / Comments: Greg Glover of the Arena Rock Recording Company sent this to my record store in 1997 to help promote the concert (and to give me something awesome to admire since I was an outspoken admirer of the early ARRCO releases). I have no idea how many of these were printed. Have you seen another? The poster was previously hung on a wall with push-pins, but it is still in remarkably good condition. The only issues to report are around the edges. The poster art was done by Brian Ralph before he became well known for his graphic novels. Approximately 22 1/2 x 13 3/4 inches. Paper Type: Printed on quite heavy, fairly stiff, brown cardstock / cardboard. The poster weighs 3.5 ounces if that helps you visualize its heft. Please closely examine the many photos provided and please read the words provided too. Together they form a fairly complete description. A video scan of the poster has also been included in the photos section. The poster looks great and is in mostly excellent condition. As mentioned previously, the imperfections are on the edges. The main body of the poster looks fantastic. There are push-pin holes/impressions near each corner and midway along the top, bottom and side edges (3 at bottom center). The reason for so many push-pins was because I received the poster rolled and it fought very hard to remain that way. There is what I call a manufacturing defect on the lower left edge – seen between the 4 and 5 inch marks on my yardstick in the main photo. It looks like there was a slicing accident where someone’s blade veered off course from its intended route. When trimming or cutting the cardstock at some point in the poster making process. There is a small cut into the poster edge there and some roughness/small tears. A detail-photo is provided for a close-up look. The poster was like this when sent to my store. You may notice that the trimming of the whole left edge of the poster was not done in a straight line – there are some curves. General edge wear is minor. There is some light corner wear including tiny creases and lightly frayed edges. There is compression around some pin holes. There are some stray ink spots on the back of the poster – not a defect – just part of the printing process. I do not want to take the chance of introducing creases by trying to roll this stiff poster tightly down to a size small enough to fit into a poster mailing tube. Nope – can’t do that. Cardboard cut from a super-large and extra heavy box. The package will weigh approximately 4 pounds and will measure approximately 30 x 19 x 2 inches. Please see the many photos for a good look (use “Hover to Zoom”) and for crying out loud ask questions if something needs explained better.
