Unique, one of a kind, original vintage first printin g concert poster. Advertising the Queen of Jazz, Ella Fitzgerald. At the Palazzo dello Sport in Turin [Italy] on Saturday, 22nd May, 1971, presented by Norman Granz, and accompanied by the Tommy Flanagan Trio. The poster measures 33.0 x 70.0 cm approx. 13″ by 27.6″ inches and is beautifully printed in blue and red inks on thin, matte-coated paper stock. Light edge wear to the upper right and left side border and two perforations at the top left and right from when the poster was originally displayed at the theatre. This is an original authentic (printed before the concert) program from the 4th Annual Pittsburgh-Courier Band Popularity Poll Winners MIDNITE JAZZ CONCERT on Saturday Eve. March 15, 1947 that featured among many others. Ella Fitzgerald, Miles Davis, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Dizzy Gillespie and many more. The concert was the biggest attraction in New York featuring all the greatest jazz stars and was a benefit for the Courier Charities Fund. The program measures 8 1/2 x 11 inches and is in VG+++/NM- condition with a very slight vertical crease that is only apparent from the back cover. 24 pages of photos articles and ads! The third photo I posted I found on-line of Billie Holiday, Miles Davis, Illinois Jacquet, Ella Fitzgerald and Joe Guy (who was Billie’s trumpeter, lover and drug supplier at the time) backstage at this concert.
