This is a VERY RARE Rick Griffin Grateful Dead 2nd printing concert poster known as “Hawaiian Aoxomoxoa”. It is featured in the Art of Rock as AoR 3.116. The original poster was printed in 1969 but most were destroyed so it is extremely rare and very expensive, this is the 2nd printing (RP-2) from 1982. At least 3 bootlegs are also known to exist but this is the authentic 2nd print. One bootleg has a yellowish tint on top of the skull, the true 2nd does not. Another bootleg has a grayish area (looks like a small shadow) in the right hand section of the skull (not yellow, like the previously mentioned bootleg, and not pure white like the true second print). Another bootleg has the same grayish area in the right hand section of the skull, and has an off-white/slightly pink area in the middle of the yellow sun. This area is not perfectly solid; it has a “broken cloud” look to it. Like the other bootlegs, it has a perfectly straight left hand image edge. It is most likely that this bootleg was “shot” off of the previously mentioned bootleg. This poster measures approx. 12.375″ x 20″ and the art is in great condition but the poster has some issues. It has pinholes in all the corners as well as some creasing and dogears. It has a light crease in the black border on the top center (see pics). Most of these issues would matte out if framed and the poster would look beautiful. It has been stored in my flat files. Photos are of the actual poster. Poster will be PROFESSIONALLY packed.
